D Pos - In our quest to deliver unsurpassed driving exhilaration, Mazda perpetually strives to take design and engineering to new levels. Our new rotary sports car concept does just that. The Mazda RX-VISION was recently unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show and brings to life our vision of the future while harboring the soul of the Mazda brand.


The Mazda RX-VISION sports car concept introduces the next generation SKYACTIV-R rotary engine and Mazda’s vision of the ultimate in front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car styling. This next-generation rotary engine, newly christened as the SKYACTIV-R – a name intended to represent Mazda’s firm resolve in applying the most advanced technologies – successfully achieves a breakthrough in addressing the three key issues with rotary engines: fuel economy, emissions performance and reliability.


In its aesthetic design, the aim was to shave away all but the essentials. The fine craftsmanship of Mazda’s renowned clay modelers captures the spirit of the KODO design language. By weaving design motifs that reflect the history of Mazda sports cars into the design of the RX-VISION, Mazda has expressed unwavering passion for the sports car.

This passion extends to the colour we chose: a special red was selected that is both deep, energetic and bright helping to bring out the contrast between light and shadow that is present on the RX-VISION.


For the interior, the RX-VISION pursues an image that is simple yet powerful. A fusion of detailed tactile surfaces and a sophisticated mechanical expression combine to create a sense of elegant tension. Metallic elements blend together with a simple instrument panel and genuine leather trim on the center tunnel to craft an interior atmosphere that speaks of handcrafted warmth with a sleeker, futuristic design.


The RX-VISION represents Mazda’s never-ending challenger spirit towards delivering new rotary engines that provide a unique brand of driving pleasure.
