D Pos - Yes, you read the headline right. One of the Greatest 24 Hours of LeMons Cars of All Time is available for the low, low price of free. Pit Crew Revenge’s former 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz has been in the keep of those who drove it at its one and only race at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in California, where it won the coveted Index of Effluency. With an eye toward more projects, the current owner is willing to part with the Eldo for free, provided the new owner will arrange to pick it up in the San Francisco Bay area and, ideally, put it back into the LeMons pool.


The Biarritz was, of course, a tribute to the protagonist from the film Casino, which documented the gangster activity surrounding handicapper Ace Rothstein (played ably by Robert De Niro) and the Tangiers Casino in Las Vegas in the 1970s and 1980s. First of all, if you haven’t seen the film, shame on you. Go watch it. Also, the Biarritz is the car that famously [SPOILER ALERT] gets destroyed in the movie.

To get it back on the racetrack, the Biarritz needs a bit of work. The HT4100 V8 in it was toast by the end of its first race, but the good news is that you can find those engines in just about any junkyard. It will also need a race seat and some minor rollcage updates, adding a bar or two to the passenger side to meet rules updates since the car raced in December 2012.


For the price of free, though, that’s a hell of a deal for a car not only with real provenance but also with Chicago Outfit-style gravitas. If this is up your periwinkle-suited alley, email the honorable Judge Phil, who will put you in touch with the current owner.
